Lars Harmsen from the type- and design-postille SLANTED invited me to accompany him to New York for an interview series. We met some thirty talented and groundbreaking designers, type manufacturers and illustrators to talk with them about their work, careers and the city.

We peeped over the shoulders of design masterminds such as Milton Glaser, the designer of the I ♥️ NY logo and chatted about the time when he arranged Bob Dylan buying a house in Woodstock. Glaser passed in 2020. What a loss!

We also met the award winning creative director of The New Yorker, Nicholas Blechman and the three partners of the ad-agency Pentagram, who designed Hillary Clinton’s Campaign 2016.

In between our scheduled appointments I photographed in the streets of the city where I spent a few months in the mid-90s.
